Our Approach

The Villages Community Development Corporation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to accelerating economic development in the villages of Detroit, a collection of neighborhoods located on Detroit's east side.

Through business attraction, community advocacy and organizing, and urban design and planning, The Villages CDC seeks to strengthen and preserve the social and economic fabric of one of the most diverse and longstanding communities in Detroit. We strive to implement physical and economic development strategies for sustainable development for the seven Village neighborhoods including East Village, Gold Coast, Joseph Berry Subdivision, Indian Village, Islandview, North Village, and West Village.

We are continuing to delve deep into our community to best understand the desires for development in the Villages. Our framework is focused on creating a cohesive yet distinct collection of neighborhoods that strive for a high quality of life through equity, inclusivity, and sustainability. The Villages will achieve this by providing a diversity of housing options, neighborhood-serving amenities, and locally-owned businesses, connected within a walkable environment.

Our Mission has Four Pillars

Develop and enhance amenities that improve quality of life.

Improve options for mobility and transportation.

Foster a diverse, equitable, and prosperous community.

Build neighborhood connectedness, character, and identity.
