Many of the neighborhoods within the Villages are Historic Districts, this allows homeowners the opportunity to receive tax credits on their Michigan tax return for historically appropriate improvements and renovations. Once proposed projects are approved, homeowners can enjoy up to 25 percent return on the cost of improvements and renovations. This tax credit can carry over from year to year until the full credit is realized.

Indian Village, English Village, West Village and Berry Subdivision offer tax incentives for new residents who are currently moving to the Villages. An NEZ tax break allows new homeowners to enjoy up to a 30 percent discount on property taxes for residents who plan to invest at least $500.00 within two years of the application date.
